About nib foundation

Now in our 13th year of giving, the programs we have supported have helped thousands of people across Australia to make positive and lasting improvements to their physical, mental and social wellbeing.

Who we are

nib foundation was created in 2008 as an independent charitable trust following a $25 million donation from nib health funds, which was raised through the issue of new shares at the time of listing nib on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in November 2007.

Our founders continue to support the charitable activity of nib foundation through the provision of unclaimed dividends from their shareholder base. Since 2018 over $2.3 million in unclaimed dividends payments have been transferred to nib foundation Limited to further our mission of helping people and communities lives healthier lives.

nib foundation is comprised of two charitable entities:

  • nib foundation Limited is a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) with a charitable purpose of advancing health and advancing social or public welfare.
  • nib foundation Trust, also registered with the ACNC, is a Private Ancillary Fund (PAF) that provides funding support to registered Australian charities with Deducible Gift Recipient (DGR) and Charity Tax Concession status.

Together these two entities provide $1.5-$2 million in funding to our partners each year.

Since inception, the foundation has committed over $23.2 million in funding to 180 charity partners to deliver practical health programs that are making a real and measurable difference to the health and wellbeing of people and communities.
