nib continues joint major partnership with Richmond AFLW as new guernsey numbers revealed
Richmond’s inaugural AFLW major partner, nib health funds (nib), has re-committed as a joint major partner of the Club’s AFLW team for the 2021 season.
The partnership continues nib’s strong ties with the Club, having been a joint major partner of the AFL team since 2018. The nib logo will again appear on the back of both the Richmond AFL and AFLW jumpers in 2021.
The seven new Richmond AFLW players welcomed during this year’s trade and draft periods, recently received their new numbers, to sit proudly above the nib logo when they run out for their Richmond debuts this AFLW season.
Former Blue Sarah Hosking will wear the number seven jumper, previously worn by Lauren Tesoriero (retired), while Sarah D’Arcy has taken on the number 12.
Fellow trade period recruits Sarah Dargan and Harriet Cordner will appear in numbers 17 and 23, respectively.
Ellie McKenzie, the number one pick in the 2020 NAB AFL Women’s Draft, will take up a locker next to Cordner, having chosen the number 22 guernsey.
Geelong Falcons product Luka Lesosky-Hay will wear the number 26 guernsey, and basketball cross-coder Tessa Lavey is the first-ever AFLW Tiger to be allocated guernsey number 37.
Richmond CEO, Brendon Gale, said he was thrilled to have nib continue as a part of the Club’s exciting AFLW journey.
“nib has shown a fantastic commitment to diversity and gender-equality through their business and employee programs, this partnership helps our women’s players to succeed and be the best footballers they can be,” he said.
“As a valued partner, nib has played a prominent part in our journey into AFLW, and they are fittingly represented on the back of our jumpers in every game we play.”
nib will also continue to support the Club’s digital platforms to tell the stories of AFLW players in 2021, building on the content created last year to introduce Richmond’s inaugural women’s team to members, supporters, and the broader public.
“We cannot wait to tell the stories of more of our Women’s players and to give our fans an insight into our Women’s Program and what we are all about, thanks to the support of nib,” Gale added.
nib Chief Executive - Australian Residents Health Insurance, Edward Close, said nib is proud to be supporting both the female and male Richmond AFL teams.
“We actively support diversity so it’s only fitting that we get behind these exceptional players’ for another year to continue to bring women’s sport to the forefront,” Mr Close said.
“We’re also looking forward to continuing the off-field action with Richmond, creating digital content geared at showcasing the talents and leadership of our women’s players to help grow female participation in sport and role model healthy behaviors across our communities,” he added.
The partnership will also see nib continue to drive diversity and engagement events for their employees, using Richmond AFLW personnel.
